Boudoir at Home: Dana’s Foodie-Themed Kitchen Session

Back in the summer, Dana messaged me with an idea I’d never tried before:
a foodie-themed boudoir shoot in her kitchen.

I’ve photographed women in studios, hotel rooms, and plenty of other locations, but a full boudoir session surrounded by spices, pans, countertops, and that gorgeous summer daylight? That was completely new and I was absolutely up for the challenge.

And honestly?
It ended up being one of the most fun and creative shoots I’ve done all year.

Stepping Into Something New

The moment I walked into her kitchen, I knew this session was going to push me in the best possible way. The space had its own character… warm, bright, and personal, so I needed to rethink everything:

✨ New lighting setups.
✨ New angles and compositions.
✨ New poses that worked naturally with the environment.
✨ And a few props I don’t normally reach for… including a very cheeky apron.

Instead of my usual studio lighting, I had beautiful natural light bouncing off her cabinets and subtle shadows drifting across the room. It was different, but in such a good way.

Making Kitchen Boudoir Magic

Something about shooting in her own home really changed the energy. Dana was instantly more relaxed, playful, and connected to the process. She moved around her kitchen like she was in her element… because she was.

We played with:

📸 Soft natural light on the countertops
📸 Backlit shots near the windows
📸 Candid foodie-style moments with ingredients and tools
📸 Fun, cheeky poses that fit the setting perfectly

There’s something incredibly powerful about combining a woman’s personality with a space that means something to her. For Dana, food and home were a huge part of that story.

The Results? They Speak for Themselves.

I left that day feeling creatively energised.
Not just because the photos looked amazing (they really do!), but because stepping outside my usual environment pushed me in ways that felt exciting and refreshing.

The images feel warm, intimate, personal, and totally unique.
Exactly what boudoir is meant to be.

Thinking of a Boudoir Session at Home?

Dana’s session reminded me that confidence doesn’t come from a perfect studio backdrop, it comes from being in a space where you feel like yourself.
