Why I Take Self Portraits

You might wonder why a boudoir photographer would take self-portraits. For me, it’s not just about creating images for myself, it’s about making my clients feel as comfortable as possible.

When you have seen me in front of the camera, you get a sense of what it feels like, and it can help ease some of those nerves about being seen yourself. I know how intimidating it can be to step in front of a lens, especially if it’s your first time in lingerie or posing for boudoir. Experiencing the nerves myself helps me empathize with my clients, so I can guide you through every moment with understanding and encouragement.

Taking self-portraits also allows me to feel the same sensations my clients feel, the little butterflies of posing, the uncertainty of what to do with your hands, how to find angles that feel good, and how to relax into yourself. That is why I guide you from head to toe, step by step, during your session, showing you exactly what to do while giving you the freedom to take the lead when you feel ready.

On top of that, self-portraits give me a chance to trial new poses and ideas before I introduce them to a session. It is a way to experiment, see what works in real time, and ensure that when my clients are in front of the camera, the experience feels smooth, safe, and empowering.

Ultimately, I take self-portraits so that when my clients step into my studio, they feel at ease, seen, and ready to enjoy their boudoir experience to the fullest. It is all part of creating a space where you can shine, be vulnerable, and feel truly confident in your own skin.
